    Upsizing Power Cables Could Lead to Substantial Energy Savings

    ECI has estimated the benefits of implementing an economic cable sizing strategy across the EU. An electricity savings potential of 20 TWh/year, from the industry and tertiary sectors, exceeds the estimated annual savings for measures already adopted under the Ecodesign Directive for domestic refrigerators (4 TWh/year), dishwashers (2 TWh/year), washing machines (1.5 TWh/year) and air conditioners and comfort fans (11 TWh/year).
